T O P I C R E V I E WD for DefiantPlease, what do you think? Thanks. ------------------May not be able to get back to you...appreciate your say nevertheless...DBlueRoamerSun sign may affect the approach and generaly character of a psychiatrist but you won't be able to gague their ability from that alone.D for DefiantHi BlueRoamer,You're absolutely right.I'd appreciate your say. ------------------May not be able to get back to you...appreciate your say nevertheless...DBlueRoamerThe chance of getting a psychiatrist to give up his birth info is not bloody likely given my experience. Sciency types generally dislike astrology and will do anything they can to avoid or disprove you. That being said, anyone who is an aware, evolved, analytical, compassionate, empathetic human being will probably be more inclined to be a good psychiatrist. Watch for people with dominant scopio/pisces/virgo in their chart. 8th, 12th, 6th houses.D for DefiantBlueRoamer, you said: quote:Watch for people with dominant scopio/pisces/virgo in their chart. 8th, 12th, 6th houses. ------------------May not be able to get back to you...appreciate your say nevertheless...Dlibraschoice7 Sun sign alone can be irrelavent, because you there are so many other factors that can contribute to making one be a good psychiatrist, Sun sign in Libra would make for a good psychiatirst, because of their ability to listen and weigh things. But I think someone with a strong element of water in their chart would be as sympathetic(mabe even more so) because they can get a good feel for whats really going on. So perhaps a good balance of of air/water would make for a great psychiatrist. For instance Aqua/Cancer Gemini/Scorpio, Libra/Pisces. As far as the worst sign, I think someone with to much fire in their chart might be to impatient and anxious to handle people with severe emotion problems. LaurenI think air/water is true also. Water is understanding and air adds the logic to detach and actually sort through the problem. But, on sun signs only, I think Libra and Pisces would make the best psychologists. A Libra/Pisces combo should be great for this. There arent any two calmer, more willing to listen, signs in the zodiac. People with strong fire and/or earth would probably pick another profession - I mean for someone to want to be a psychologist in the first place, they'd need some water and air.. to spark their interest.sthenriThe worst I ever dealt with was a Taurus male (and I am a taurus). The best was an Aquarius male. I stick to women when working out relationship issues but I'm not in one now. For women my last one was blind and very sensitive to words and what they really meant. Good ones tend to go straight to childhood issues, and listen. The Taurus was treating my friend, not me, and he was suspicious and in denial. The truth was more about substance abuse. So far I would have to say Aquarius, although he was so brutal my first time I cried all day. I cried so much I had an injury to my eye! Could you listen to peoples problems and emotional issues day in and day out? You are entitled to your opinion that Libra wouldn't make a good psychiatirst. I've been to a shrink before, the woman I saw was of Sun sign Leo(she had no problem telling me her birthdate), and she looked and seemed worn down, it's funny because after awhile I began asking her what was wrong. I mean this woman seemed like she couldn't bear it anymore, and I felt sorry for her. Like I said sometimes it's not about the Sun sign, there are so many components to a persons chart to just pin them down solely on Sun sign. And you also have to consider their own upbringing and personal beliefs, everyone varies so much. It's also about the amount of patients, tolerance, and of course compassion a person has whether he/she would truly make for a good psychiatirst. It could be any sign in the zodiac that could be a shrink but you got to look at all the other things about them before saying no no. LynxI was going to go for a psych degree. Then I realized that 40 hours a week of people's issues would not go with my Sag moon. I think I would just blow up and say, "He's just not that into you. Now get over it!" To each there own I suppose. But guess what.......... astro junkieI think it's important to make a few distinctions at this point :::Some "head doctors" dispense narcotics to their patients, and therefore, have full-on medical degrees. They approach their patients understanding what narcotics might help create a medical chemical balance based mainly on the brain. They look no further. There is no need for them to define a beginning, middle and end storyline for their patients' welfare. All they know is they've become really good at prescribiing a drug which will, at the very minimum, keep their patients from offing themselves. The "storyline" gets handed to those who, at the very minimum, act as counselors whether they be a Wiccan, Priest, Parent, Friend, or any of the endless titles given to those in the profession who do NOT deal with narcotics. These two distinctions cannot be generalized. Those who are comfortable dispensing drugs are NOT the same as those capable of following a storyline from beginning to end. There are many people who are good at pinpointing the crux of an emotional or psychological problem, but who have very little ability to express what they've pinpointed. There are those who can pinpoint AND express what they've pinpointed, but who have little ability in convey themselves to a person who is meshed with suffering. In one ear, out the other, yo ...There are those who pinpoint, express, convey and REACH ... but who do not have the ability to delicately hold the other's hand through a process which could take YEARS if not decades. For those counselors who have it all, each will STILL have a threshold for what they consider legitimate progress.Put all these together, and what is required to be EFFECTIVE at all is mind-boggling.Yes, I've met many Librans who will tantalize and tempt you with their brand of knowledge. But their only purpose is to draw you in. And when the chips are REALLY down in your world, they are no where to be found. True ...So now we've come full-circle, back to you, the inquirer, the seeker, the victim ... you ...------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darknessLuLuI have a degree in psychology and actually worked in the field with children providing therapeutic child support and as a resident counselor for over 5 years. I had to stop because it took such an emotional toll on me. The empathy I have for others really drained me of what I had to give. I am a Taurus Sun, Sag Moon, Cappy Rising with my moon conjunct my neptune in the 11th house. When I decided to switch professions, those around me were very surprised. I even had a family friend, who worked in the profession with me, become very upset with me. She stated that I shouldn't be so naive as to throw such an amazing gift away. She told me she had always been amazed at how good I was and how easily others trusted me with their problems. I took it as a compliment, but informed her that I had to take care of myself too and that continuing in that line of work was just too much for me.D for DefiantLulu, you said: quote:I have a degree in psychology and actually worked in the field with children providing therapeutic child support and as a resident counselor for over 5 years. quote:I am a Taurus Sun, Sag Moon, Cappy Rising with my moon conjunct my neptune in the 11th house. quote:I had to stop because it took such an emotional toll on me.
